The Maryland Performing Arts Academy is dedicated to Enhancing the Complete Artist.  But in order to be complete, you must do the work. Dance is an essential component to health, wellness and creative expression, at any age.

 

The Dance Lab (TDL) is a new 26-week elite dance training program open to students ages 2.5 and up who would like to further their knowledge, vocabulary, and abilities in dance. Here, you will study with the most prominent instructors in the region, and focus on an array of techniques geared towards both the dedicated and the aspiring dancer.

 

PART 1

Beginning the week of April 9th, students will train in weekly classes in a carefully tailored curriculum, with an emphasis on learning fundamentals, terminology and techniques at their individual level. (Students have the opportunity to transfer to a higher level with approval by an instructor)  A mid-program recital will showcase the student’s progress in musicality, ensemble movement, teamwork, spacial awareness, and overall knowledge and performance ability. 
 

PART 2
In the fall, Dance Lab students will rehearse a new commissioned musical theatre production of “the Nutcracker.” The rehearsal process will introduce them to creating believable characters, storytelling, working with props, elaborate costuming, staging, and many other elements required to produce a Broadway style show that will be performed for family and friends. Exposing dancers to a production that includes Actors and Singers will not only increase their knowledge for the arts but open their minds to creativity, self-confidence, and a passion for becoming a complete artist.
